What is EFT and how does it work?
The Emotional Freedom Technique was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990’s.
The premise: all emotional memories are stored in the body.
The hippocampus flags any memory that poses danger to us (that we perceive as a danger). When a future event happens that’s similar to that event, the hippocampus finds that flag and says this is a danger and we react to the perceived danger. Our amygdala (fight/ flight/ freeze) takes over.
The process of EFT helps us to release the unconscious triggers we are reacting to by talking about specific memories/ events while tapping on acupuncture points to release the emotional charge.
There are numerous scientific studies showing that EFT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, pain & physical symptoms, phobias and PTSD.
What are the pros of EFT?
1. It improves/ heals emotional trauma in a safe setting.
2. No drug side effects
3. It can be done through Zoom with a professional
4. You can do it yourself, anywhere, anytime for free
What are the cons of EFT?
1. It is possible to open a trauma capsule in the unconscious and re-awaken memories which can occur in any trauma work. If it happens you would be guided to tap through the experience.
Many people avoid the "Little" pain in life to keep from being uncomfortable but hold on to the "Big" pain. This prevents people from doing their work because they are scared.
1. BE AWARE
a. Be aware of your projections on others
b. Be aware of what’s not working in your life
c. Be aware of your feelings
2. BE READY
a. Be ready to do the work necessary to begin the healing process
b. Be ready to reach out to help
3. BE WILLING
a. Be willing to be uncomfortable. Healing wounds always involves discomfort. It takes the willingness to feel discomfort so that you can release the chains and feel the freedom on the other side.
